We've had the last couple of weeks chopped up by standardized testing, but with that behind us we can finish out the year in style. In the past week, we've been able to dig into some projects, including studying circles by scaling and constructing the plans of the Marina City (Corncob) towers. We'll continue in this direction with math, studying other plans and details of important modern Chicago buildings, and then comparing those to the engineering marvels of the Roman Empire, such as the Pantheon, Aquaducts, and the Colosseum. The year in social studies will finish out with Rome, thus the connection to math. It should be fun, and I hope you're looking forward to building, drawing and making some cool stuff.
