We've had a really exciting first week of school, and it has been a lot of fun getting to know Ray's fantastic 6th Graders! We've been working on mastering procedures and schedules this week, while also learning how to collaborate as learners. Today, the students started the Beginning of Year NWEA MAP Reading and Math testing, and we should wrap it up tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight's homework is as follows:

Social Studies: If not already finished, please complete the letter to me (see the blog post from Tuesday below).

Math: Complete the Smallest and Largest Task, including testing your solutions against alternate options, and then DESCRIBE your STRATEGY for each specific case. For instance, for the finding the solution with the largest quotient (division problem), you might say that your strategy is to Divide the biggest number by the smallest number (which in this case, is 50 divided by 1/2, which equals 100).

Parent Homework: Please complete and send back the forms and paperwork that was distributed on Tuesday (Medical forms, Directory forms, Emergency Contact Info, Lunch form, Cell Phone Policy, and Student Handbook forms).

Also, if you have not done so already, please send me you contact information: Name, Email, Phone Number, etc.
