We'll be working on unit rates and ratio tables this week in Math, learning how to use division to scale down a rate, and multiplication to scale it back up. Remember, a unit rate is simplified so that the denominator is 1 unit. Some common unit rates that we use all the time are listed here: speed (miles per hour), wages (dollars per hour), sports (points per game), nutrition (calories per serving).
Math Homework: page 34, #1-6
In Social Studies, we are working on a Stock Market Game Unit, studying how stock markets work and the forces that are in play in a Market Economy. We will be comparing different economy types through the next few weeks, including the types of economies present in more ancient civilizations, such as the debt and gift economy, and the barter economy.
Social Studies Homework: Complete the four part graphic organizer by coming up with lists of companies that fit into the categories we discussed in class today. Some of these categories were Technology, Transportation, Energy, Finance, Retail, Apparel, Food Products, Restaurants, Entertainment, and Education. (Choose Four)
