Math Homework: page 35, #1-9
Please remember that with all unit rates, we start by setting up the ratio, then calculate the unit rate by dividing so that your denominator 1 unit. With that rate for one item, or one unit, you can calculate costs for any number of items.
Example problem: 4 Ray T-shirts cost $28. How much would it cost to buy 10 T-shirts?
Set up the ratio: $28 / 4 T-shirts
Divide to find the unit rate: $28 divided by 4 is $7. So the unit rate is $7 per T-shirt.
Multiply to calculate the cost for 10 T-shirts: $7 x 10 = $70 for 10 T-shirts.
