There is no math homework this evening. However, there is a lot of Social Studies.

Our Social Studies class is starting an essay on Hammurabi's Code that will be due on Friday. Students are to use the documents we've been studying in class over the past week to assess whether Hammurabi's laws were JUST, in the sense of justice. Today, everyone was given an outline for the essay, with a focus for each paragraph. Please review this document and begin to plan the major parts of your essay.

Here are some tips.

Paragraph 1 should include your claim about whether the code is just, should include your definition of justice, and should give background details about the code, Hammurabi and why he wrote it.

Paragraph 2, 3, and 4 should focus on Family Law, Property Law, and Personal Injury Law, using the laws from Document C, D, and E as the main sources. Each paragraph should make a smaller claim that supports the main claim from paragraph 1.

Paragraph 5 should be the conclusion paragraph.
