We spent today taking the NWEA MAP tests for the beginning of the year. Most students completed both tests, and those who did not will have time on Friday or Monday to finish up. We use these early test scores to make sure that we are challenging each student at the proper development level, as the scores allow the teachers to study trends in each student's scores from the past year or two. The results usually show growth over time, but not necessarily each time they take the test. In the fall test, it is quite normal to see scores that are slightly lower than the spring test. I would be happy to forward data from the tests to interested parents. From there we can discuss how to best analyze the trends and then move forward with areas of focus for each student.
