Curriculum Update: Week 21 (Quarter 3)

6th Math: Students will learn how to set up, and then solve, proportion problems using equivalent fractions or cross multiplication. This will build upon the part-over-whole percent equation that we practiced last week. Students will also practice their decimal operation skills, focusing on decimal multiplication.

6th Science: Students will continue to learn about the natural habitats and ecosystems of the planet, focusing on how the health of the systems and the species that inhabit them are closely related. This base knowledge will be gained through watching, discussing, and responding to ideas from the Our Planet documentary series. Students will begin to unpack the importance of ‘protected’ environments, and how human actions and climate change impact those ecosystems.
