Curriculum Update: Week 22 (Quarter 3)

6th Math: Students will start a new unit on algebraic expressions, including learning the parts of an expression: variables and constants, terms, coefficients, and factors. They will learn how to evaluate expressions and use substitution to solve expressions with one or two variables. Students will also begin to write expressions to represent variables and constants from real world situations.


6th Science: Students are learning about Natural Selection and how species evolve over time to better adapt to their environment. Students will learn about Charles Darwin and his studies of the animals on the Galapagos Island. They will also make connections to our everyday world, learning how pets and farm animals have been selectively bred to develop specific traits
