Week 14 Learning Focus

5th Math: Students will learn how to draw visual models to represent fraction by whole number multiplication and fraction by fraction multiplication. Students will also use inequalities to show that multiplying a number by a fraction will result in a smaller product (the answer to the multiplication problem).

6th Math: Students will learn how to find and compare unit rates for a variety of problem types. They will also practice solving part to part to whole ratio problems using tape diagrams.

6th Science: This week, students will continue their study of the Great Lakes by learning about the ways that invasive species, pollution, and climate change affect the balance of the ecosystem. We will focus on evaluating maps and graphs that show how these factors have affected the Great Lakes over the past 50 years.
