Week 19 Learning Focus

5th Grade Math: Students will be extending their knowledge of Powers of Ten by learning to evaluate numbers written in Scientific Notation. Students will then be learning how to multiply whole numbers by decimals, and decimals by decimals through the traditional algorithm and through the lattice method.

6th Grade Math: Students will continue to learn about how to manipulate percents, building on last weeks practices of converting between percents, fractions and decimals. They will learn how to find the percent of a number by using fraction and decimal multiplication. They will use these skills to solve real world problems such as the calculating sale prices, determining sales tax values, and analyzing content labels on food products.
