Week 22 Learning Focus

5th Math: Students will continue the unit on Operations with Decimals. We will review the 4 operations with decimals with a focus on multiplication and dividing strategies. Students will also work on real-world decimal problems, determining which operation to use through the study of key words and context.

6th Math: Students will continue to learn the rules of algebra, including simplifying variable expressions by using substitution. They will learn more about applying the distributive property to more complex expressions while also learning how to combine ‘like’ terms.

6th Science: Students will continue to study the concept of natural selection and how species are related and can be traced to a common lineage. Students will work on a project where they research related species and identify how their unique characteristics have adapted to best fit their environment.
