6th Math: Students will continue to work on our expressions and equations unit. This week they will learn how to use x,y tables to organize data, determine growth patterns, and solve problems where the variables grow at a consistent rate. Students will also practice finding rules for increasing and decreasing number patterns and extend that rule to predict what’s coming next.
5th Math: Students will move into a new unit on problem solving by using tables and charts to organize data and predict what comes next. They will practice recording quantity growth and identifying number patterns that increase by addition. They will also notice how patterns of repeated addition can also be achieved by multiplying.
6th Science: Students will learn about how gravity works on Earth, the moon, and different planets in our solar system. They will use this as a starting point to discuss the comparative size and mass of planets in solar system as well as how our atmosphere is related to gravity.
