Week 30 Learning Focus (4th Quarter, Week 1)

6th Grade Math: Students are learning how to solve one and two-step equations using the the inverse operations model. They are also practicing solving equations through diagrams, including the bags and coins model, where the bags represent the unknowns and the coins represent the constants.

5th Grade Math: Students are learning about how to convert between different units of time during the first half of the week, and will be converting between distance units during the second half of the week. The focus will be on understanding whether to use multiplication or division to convert units as students consider the relative size of the units of the units they are working between.
