Week 33 Learning Focus (Quarter 4, Week 4)

6th Math: Students will continue to learn about geometry, focusing on finding the area of composite shapes, and on finding missing dimensions when given the area. Students will also start the Fibonacci Spiral project, and learn about the way the Fibonacci sequence is present in natural growth patterns.

5th Math: Students will practice calculating the area and perimeter of shapes , including working backward to find the missing dimensions of side lengths of rectangles. Later in the week, we will study the differences between volume and area as they relate to measuring and describing shapes and spaces.

6th Science: Students will learn about environmental issues related to the access to fresh water in different parts of the world, and stressors on the natural water supply. They will study how creative, science-based solutions are helping in different climates around the world.
