Week 35 & 36 Learning Focus

Over the past two weeks, our students have been learning about the number patterns that make up Pascal's Triangle, and of the fractal patterns that are evident in Sierpinski's Triangle. These two extraordinary mathematical patterns are closely related, as coloring in the even numbers on a Pascal Triangle create the fractal pattern evident in a Sierpinski Triangle.

Throughout this unit of study, the students are also learning about geometrical of these patterns through the lens of symmetry, measurement, bisections, and midpoints, even getting into ideas of origami to fold the framework for their Sierpinski Triangle constructed drawing.
