5th Grade Math: We will continue to learn about decimals, including practicing with place value, locating decimals on number lines, and writing decimals in expanded form. Students will also be working on their volume project (Designing their Own Building) and learning about how architects design the shape and volumes of their buildings.

Read, write, and compare decimals to thousandths.

6th Grade Math: In math this week, we will continue work on statistics using measures of center like mean and median, while also practicing with making and evaluating histograms. We will also begin a data research project where they find the playoff stats for great NBA players and compare them through a series of bar graphs and histograms.

Display numerical data in plots on a number line, including dot plots, histograms, and box plots.

6th Grade Science: Students will be working on a Research Project for Hispanic Heritage Month. Our class will be studying Peru, learning about the history, culture, ecosystems (coast, desert, mountains, rain forest), and important heritage sites, such as Machu Picchu and the Nazca Lines. Students will collaborate to build a slideshow to present their findings about the country.
